Welcome To The Bartholomew Medical Group

Coronavirus (COVID-19)

THE SURGERY IS OPEN!

The following changes to our appointments systems have been undertaken to protect our patients and staff, particularly those most vulnerable, on the guidance of Public Health England and NHS England.  We continue to review the situation and will keep our patients updated.

GP appointments - you can book an appointment but will be advised that this may be a telephone consultation.  The GP will decide if you need to be brought in to the Surgery to be seen face to face. We will contact you if there is any change in our procedures.

Nurse appointments - we are booking limited nurse appointments depending on urgency.  These may be changed to telephone consultations.

If you wish to avoid the surgery, please cancel your appointment by contacting our reception by telephone.

Please DO NOT attend the surgery if you suspect that you may have Coronavirus (COVID-19).  This is for the protection of our most vulnerable patients and our staff.  We do not have any way of testing for the virus and it could lead to the entire surgery needing to close for full decontamination to be completed.

If you are concerned about Coronavirus, please see the NHS111 page:  https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19.

Please continue to cover your mouth when coughing and wash your hands regularly.

The situation is changing rapidly and we will update patients when more information is available.  This post was correct as of 13th March 2020.

Kind regards

The Doctors, Bartholomew Medical Group

    Queue outside the health centre

There appears to be some confusion at the front of the building. The queue outside is for the pharmacy and not for the health centre. If you have an appointment, please do not join the queue. Instead please enter the building where you will be met by one of our reception team.

    Isolation or sick notes information

We are receiving high levels of calls and queries regarding isolation or sick notes for Covid-19 related issues. We will try and outline the main queries and the steps you can take. Please be advised that if you are self isolating due to you showing symptoms, or a member of your household, that isolation notes can be gained through the NHS 111 website. These will not be generated by your GP practice. If you feel you require an isolation note please visit NHS 111 https://111.nhs.uk/isolation-note/ A small number of our patients may have received a letter informing you that you fall into a "high risk" category and advise you to follow shielding advice for 12 weeks. Please use this letter as evidence for your employer. A sick note is not required in this instance. If you feel you are at high risk and have not received a letter, please contact the Practice and this can be investigated for you. For clarity, the patients at highest risk are listed here: have had an organ transplant are having certain types of cancer treatment have blood or bone marrow cancer, such as leukaemia have a severe lung condition, such as cystic fibrosis or severe asthma have a condition that makes you much more likely to get infections are taking medicine that weakens your immune system are pregnant and have a serious heart condition We are aware that there is a larger group of patients that fall into "at risk" categories - NHS Digital are working hard to identify these patients and will be contacted in due course. The practice is not able to give additional information about this or say which patients will be included nor can we provide letters to confirm that you are at high risk. Any other requests for time off due to Covid-19 related issues must be discussed with your employer. There is a wealth of information online regarding Covid-19 and employment https://www.acas.org.uk/coronavirus https://www.unison.org.uk/coronavirus-rights-work/ https://www.gov.uk/…/guidance-to-employers-and-businesses-a… Our advice to all of our patients is to follow the current government guidance: stay home apart from essential shopping, for essential work and, if you fancy it, one form of exercise per day. In all of these circumstances, ensure to keep a 2m distance from others and wash your hands at regular intervals with soap and warm water.
